Changing Perspectives - paving the path to bully-free schools Harassment in schools is by no means a new issue. Some might even call it human nature. But the parameters that school bullies operate within have changed. The stakes are higher. Today we recognize bullying as a form of abuse. As part of Iowa's Success4 Initiative, our schools are being asked to look not only at the academic development of students, but also their social, emotional, intellectual and behavioral progress. In November of 2001, teachers and administrators from across the state came together for a two-day conference focused solely on the issue of school bullying. Along with general information and commentary on school harassment, this vedeo draws on clips from that conference to bring to light the severity of this epidemic. With knowledge and understanding, we can pave the path to bully-free schools by Changing Perspectives. Produced by the Iowa Department of Education (2002). 30 minutes - Discussion guide included
