PREFACE
The Iowa Civil Rights Commission came into existence with the passage of
the Iowa Civil Rights Act of 1965. The Commission has proceeded with its
responsibilities and activities during its first two and one-half years
with the primary aim of ultimately ending discrimination in the state of
Iowa.
This comprehensive report is a summary of the Commissions efforts thus far in working toward the fundamental goal of equality of opportunity in all phases of community and private life. This is the second annual report issued by the Commission, the first having been released in July of 1966. As a matter of policy, the Commission has decided to issue future annual reports in January.
