ADVOCACY AND AFFIRMATIVE ACTION
DIVISION
As a result of the agency's reorganization, the Prevention Resource Team and the Protection and Advocacy Division were combined into one division. Governor Branstad redesignated the Protection and Advocacy Division as a private non-profit corporation effective October 1, 1984. The new corporation will be known as Iowa Protection and Advocacy Services, Inc. Protection and Advocacy, which is federally funded, provides services to protect and advocate for the rights of persons with developmental disabilities. Their new office is located at:
3015 Merle Hay Road, Suite 6
Des Moines, IA. 50310
515-278-2502
The agency promulgated administrative rules on affirmative action that define state agencies' responsibilities to implement affirmative action, but also guidance in developing and implementing their affirmative action plans. These rules are contained in the section "FY 1984 Administrative Rules."
