CONCILIATION

Conciliation is a process offered to Respondents to obtain voluntary compliance with the Iowa Civil Rights Act. Contrary to staff investigators, conciliators negotiating probable cause cases are advocates for the Complainant who use various means of conference, conciliation and persuasion to redress the violation of the Iowa Civil Rights Act.

FY 1981 witnessed the conciliation inventory reduced from a beginning total of thirty (30) cases, to an ending total of four (4) cases.

Unsuccessful conciliation cases are considered by the Commission for public hearing.
