The Iowa Civil Rights Commission
(ICRC) contracts yearly with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
(EEOC) and Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), federal civil
rights agencies responsible for enforcing Title VII and Title VIII, the
federal employment and housing anti-discrimination laws. The ICRC contracts
with EEOC and HUD to investigate and determine cross-filed complaints.
In Fiscal Year 1987, the ICRC contracted with EEOC to investigate/determine 485 complaints at $400 per investigation/determination and with HUD for 43 complaints at $600 per determination. The ICRC exceeded the EEOC contract and HUD contracts which resulted in an increase of HUD contracts for the next fiscal year. Performance by the ICRC under the EEOC contracts grossed the ICRC $267,343.57 ($264,600 cases, $2,743.57 Trng) and HUD $29,670.00 ($25,800 cases, $3,870 Trng).
