Funding Sources

The Commission's FY 91 total budget was $1,739,091, with funds coming from the Iowa general fund, as appropriated by the Legislature, and from contracts with federal agencies.

From the Equal Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Commission received a total of $463,193 under its contracts for the investigation of cross-filed employment complaints.

The Commission received a total of $245,505 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for three different programs. The contributions, incentive and training grant of $89,793 was for the investigation of cross-filed housing complaints, fair housing awareness, and for staff training. Type II Grant funds of $144,335 were expended for further development of a housing discrimination computer expert system (see page 7). Fair Housing Initiative Program (FHIP) funds of $11,377 were expended for the development and provision of fair housing educational materials (see page 8).
