IOWA CIVIL RIGHTS COMMISSION FINISHES MORTGAGE LENDING STUDY

The Iowa Civil Rights Commission (ICRC) has recently completed an 18-month study of mortgage lending practices in eight of Iowa's largest cities (Cedar Rapids, Council Bluffs, Davenport, Des Moines, Dubuque, Iowa City, Sioux City, and Waterloo/Cedar Falls).

In the course of the study, funded by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the ICRC reviewed and analyzed mortgage lending activity data, conducted hundreds of interviews, calculated community segregation indices, conducted on-site race and national origin fair lending tests, and reviewed and compared loan application case files.

The ICRC has scheduled meetings in each of the eight communities to share the results of the study. The meetings, dates/times/locations listed below, are open to the public.
